Voter-approved special taxing district that funds local programs for Martin County children and families.
About
The Children’s Services Council of Martin County is an independent special taxing district created in 1988. Funded by local property taxes approved by voters, it plans, funds and evaluates programs for children and families across the county.
Its funding areas include maternal and child health, family support, child safety, early learning and youth development. The council leads Martin Reads, a campaign to help children read on grade level by third grade, and offers Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which mails free books to children up to age five. Council meetings are open to the public.
